About Me - Training & Experience
I believe that effective therapy is built on both genuine human connection and professional competence. Throughout my career, I have been committed to ongoing learning and development, helping me support clients with a wide range of experiences and challenges. Below you can find information about my professional background, qualifications and additional training.
My Experience as a Therapist
Voluntary Sector
I have extensive experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, including three years in a counselling and advocacy role at a local domestic violence charity. During this time, I also completed specialist training through Women’s Aid.
Domestic abuse can deeply impact a person’s sense of self. It often leaves invisible wounds that can take years to fully understand and heal. Counselling offers a safe, supportive space to begin that rebuilding process — helping survivors reconnect with their identity, regain confidence, and move forward at their own pace.
NHS

A life-changing event such as a cancer diagnosis can often become a catalyst for deeper self-reflection. It invites us to look inward, reassess our priorities, and better understand ourselves. In truth, any significant life event — not just illness — can spark this kind of personal change.
I also have additional training in grief, loss, and bereavement, and offer compassionate support to those navigating these complex experiences.

Counselling offers a space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface — to develop greater self-awareness and understanding. Often, people seek therapy when life feels overwhelming and everything seems tangled together. The process of talking things through helps to gently unpick those knots.
I’m continually struck by how little we’re often taught to know ourselves. So many of our reactions and interactions are automatic. But when clients begin to explore their inner world, the clarity and insight they gain can be incredibly powerful — and it’s a privilege to witness and support that journey.
